Red Town and Boom Rocks
Where are we? How did we get here? What IS this place? Last thing we knew, we were singing and camping under the supermoon in an old mining town, playing drums in a giant field while nymph dancers emerged from the distant trees, and walking the streets of South Broadway absorbed in the music-filled madness of Denver's UMS. And then all of a sudden BAM, silence. A deep breath. New terrain.
Where do we go from here? These last summer days promise to be equally surreal. This Saturday we'll be at the Bohemian Nights Festival in Fort Collins. Our set is at 11amwhich means we will be up and at 'em at a mysterious dreamy time rarely witnessed by any band - 7:30am.
Next week we begin our very intriguing new collaboration with the contemporary ballet genius mad scientist dancers at Wonderbound - we'll spend a whole week hashing out new material because we are about to write a full length ballet! Called Boomtown. What does that mean? What will it be like? I guess we'll have to take it one day at a time, stringing moments together like popcorn on a Christmas tree.
As if that wasn't dreamy enough, on August 25th we will get to perform at Red Rocks Ampitheater for Film on the Rocks, opening for Who Framed Roger Rabbit. What?? Red Rocks and Looney Tunes?! That is absurdly awesome and a dream come true. Our good buddy Jesse Manley will be there too, get your tickets here. On August 30th the movie tour continues - we'll open up at Boulder Outdoor Cinema for another amazing movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Yes yes yes.
There are big breathtaking Happenings after that so important and enigmatic that we cannot put them into words just yet. So we leave you with more questions than answers, more overture than curtain call, more imagination than sanity. Here are some pixels for your pleasure - Continental Divide Vibe put together this video of our new as-yet-unreleased song "Ruby Hill" from our set for UMS in July.
Ta ta for now! Hope to see you out and about.
Love,
Chimney Choir

Spring Things
We have some very exciting collaborations happening this year and we've been writing a ton of new music. The big news to share is that Chimney Choir will be working with Wonderbound to write a full length ballet / multi-media show called Boomtown that will premier in April 2015. Wonderbound (formally Ballet Nouveau) is an incredibly creative modern dance company that has worked with the Colorado Symphony, Ian Cooke, and Paper Bird. Together, we have decided to explore Denver. It is changing every minute. It is becoming the face of all those moving here, living here, creating here. Boomtown is an enigma - an attempt to find the soul of the city at the same time it is finding itself.
We'll perform at Junction Box (Wonderbound's amazing rehearsal space) this Saturday night as part of Jesse Manley's Gothic Folktale CD release.

Chimney Choir was nominated best Avant-Pop band by the Westword. If you are the voting kind, you can vote for us here! http://musicshowcasepoll.westword.com/
The next few months will be spent playing some really fun festivals, backyards, old schoolhouses, print shops and more. We are working up a show called Skeleton Woman with Language of Fish that will happen in Boulder the last week of May / first week of June. David, Kevin, and Kris will also be performing with Natalie Tate for a few shows this month and next. Natalie is a great friend and amazing songwriter, check out her music here.
Finally, here is a brand new video from our (compass) release show back in June. Thanks to Colorado Secret Stages and Continental Divide Vibe for the hard work putting this all together!
